TDM
Description
Tert dodecyl mercaptan or Tert-dodecanethiol, often called TDM, is a clear white to light yellow liquid with a strong repulsive odor. It is not soluble in water, but slightly soluble in light alcohols and fully soluble in styrene and most organic solvents.
Applications
It is used in the polymer industry and as a process regulator and a chain transfer agent in the polymerization of ABS, SBR and SB Latex; rubber products, processing aids (i.e. pH regulators, flocculants, and precipitants). It has several applications in specialty lubricants as corrosion inhibitor and as an extremely high pressure additive for gear oils, greases, metal working fluids, drilling and/or mining fluids.
